Yayoi Kusama Exhibits New Collection at the  Victoria Miro Gallery

I really like the work of Yayoi Kusama, for its brilliance of colours and shapes added to a simplicity of design is truly inspirational. If you read my earlier post  Molecules of Inspiration Artists’ Sketchbooks I spoke of my direction in drawing and painting by “…search for the simplest of concepts and their connections.” Well Yayoi has spent her life doing just that with her “DOT” pictures.

Yayoi and Zandra

I think Yayoi’s appearance mirrors our fashion designer  Zandra Rhodes, whom I met a year or two back, and they both have such “look at me ” hair.  And they both have in common is a strong work ethic and are very prolific in producing art work.  Here’s Zandra, I took this photo during the time when I was a fashion writer !

Quiet a resemblance, mmm…  but back to Yayoi, and her paintings. I think they speak for themselves in regards to the amount of work she is putting into each piece. Unless, like many top class artists, she too has an army of assistants to do her work!

I do like the fight between complexity and simplicity in this picture above . Its like looking at a groovy piece of skin through a microscope.

Victoria Miro Gallery in London featuring Yayoi Katsuma,Japanese artist Katsuma has a new art collection exhibited,

When I saw this painting of coloured blobs on a pink background reminded me of the post by fellow blogger Andy Parkinson at Patternsthatconnect titled Vehicles for colours  . I commented on the things that I see in a picture. My mental cogs and wheels have turned this picture   coloured slugs sliding through the grass.
